My name is Soumaya. I am 21 years old and living in the chaotic world of fast fashion. Trends come and go as designers and stylists fight for the top spot. Fashion has always been a huge part of my life and I am inspired by it anywhere I look. As an avid watcher of period dramas, I fell in love with the world of fashion within the walls of palaces housing some of the most notorious royalty and nobility. The ballgowns and bright colors of Renaissance Italy are coquettish and yet youthful. The subtle romance of French Court fashion juxtaposes the turmoil ravishing the common peoples. There is inspiration to be taken from these times of old. Inspired by film and TV that transport us back in time, I will looking at depictions of women’s period drama fashion and determining if the costume designer passed or hit a major faux pas.
